Ramesh Kumar never thought trees would change his life. A small farmer from Rajasthan, he struggled with declining crop yields due to soil degradation and unpredictable rainfall.
"The land was dying," Ramesh recalls. "Every year, the harvest got smaller."
A New Beginning
When GrowBillionTrees approached his village about a reforestation project, Ramesh was skeptical. But he agreed to let part of his fallow land be used for tree planting.
The Transformation
Three years later, Ramesh is one of our most dedicated forest guardians. The 500 trees on his land have begun to restore the soil. His crop yields in adjacent fields have improved by 40%.
"These trees are my children now," he says with a smile. "I talk to them every morning."
